The University of Rijeka's first Alpine Expedition - ˝Kilimanjaro- Africa 2010˝
Rijeka, July 22, 2010 In the period between September 14 and October 6 this year, the members of the University of Rijeka are planning to conquer the Mount Kilimanjaro – or, more precisely, its 5898-metre-high Uhuru Peak. This will be the first Croatian expedition of this sort, confirming that the University of Rijeka is, in addition to all it offers its students, also open to other activities – which will affirm its position as an university worth studying at.

The new Iranian Ambassador on his first official visit to the City of Rijeka

Raised the Blue Flag at the beach intended for disabled persons
Rijeka, 1 June 2010 The Blue Flag has been raised in a solemn ceremony at Kostanj beach, located in the area of Bivio, the first one that a beach in Rijeka has deserved. "The Walker", a new sculpture on Korzo

Rijeka to host the World Cups and the World Junior Nine-Pin Bowling Championship
Rijeka, 19 May 2010 From 21 to 29 May in the prefabricated bowling alley placed within the sports hall of the Zamet Centre, the Under 23 World Nine-Pin Bowling Championship (male and female) will be held, as well as two world junior individual cups - for juniors, boys and girls under the age of 18 and for cadets - boys and girls under the age of 14. Agreement between the City of Rijeka and the World Chess Federation

The 19th edition of the masked rally Pariz – Bakar and the Ball of Octane
Rijeka, 6 February 2010 The costumed procession of the 19th consecutive masked rally Pariz – Bakar with exactly 90 vehicles, after gathering near Pariz in Rijeka, proceeded down toward the Rijeka promenade Korzo, to continue the drive afterwards towards Kostrena and Bakar. The imaginative octane drivers were tested there for their driving abilities, and all the prized participants were invited to take part in the already traditional Ball of Octane. The masked rally is a unique manifestation of this kind in the world owing to which the Rijeka Carnival has become widely famous.

Reception for the Ukrainian Ambassador
Rijeka, 5 February 2010 The mayor of the City of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel and the deputy mayor Miroslav Matešić gave a reception in honour of the new Ukrainian Ambassador Boris Zaichuk, who was accompanied by his deputy Anatolij Černyšenk. The talks included the establishment of cooperation in the field of the economy, culture and education, as well as closer connections between Rijeka and the Mykolayiv region and the city of Mykolayiv.

Town Twinning – contribution to local community development
Rijeka, 4 February 2010 The final presentation of the project titled ''Promotion of Town Twinning between European and Croatian Local Units", financially supported by the European Union, organised by the Association of Municipalities, was held in Rijeka. The participants presented the results of research into twinning between Croatian municipalities and cities, as examples of good practice, including the example of the City of Rijeka.

The 14th edition of the Children's Carnival Procession
Rijeka, 3 February 2010 Saturday, 6 February starting at 13:00 hours, already for the fourteenth time in a row, the most playful and engaging manifestation of the Rijeka Carnival – Children's Carnival Procession will take place with participation of preschool and school-aged children. The 19th edition of the masked rally Pariz - Bakar is to take place on Saturday, 6 February 2010.

Croatia Carnival Snowboard Session 2010
Rijeka, 1 February 2010 Within the Rijeka Carnival, the Croatia Carnival Snowboard Session 2010 was held last Saturday, for the first time on Korzo. The citizens of Rijeka and their guests once again had an opportunity to enjoy the skills of some twenty top snowboarders from about ten countries. This snow competition, for which on Korzo a particular polygon was constructed, is unique for its platform just 100 meters distant from the sea.

Rijeka and Skopje connected by charter flights
Rijeka, 14 January 2010 The promotional flight between Rijeka and Skopje will take place on Monday, 25 January, organised by the company GAT Executive from Rijeka, and will be the first among many flights scheduled two times a week all the year round between the Rijeka Airport and the Macedonian capital. The establishment of this airline is the first step of the regional air traffic connection aimed at developing the Krk Airport and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

The 27th edition of the Rijeka Carnival is approaching!
Rijeka, 14 January 2010 This year's 27th edition of the Rijeka Carnival will take place from 17 January to 17 February. The domination of fancy-dressed people will begin with the election of the Rijeka Carnival Queen (22 January), to continue with the Children's Carnival Procession (6 February) and the International Carnival Procession (14 February).

Opened the Honorary Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rijeka
Rijeka, 11 January 2010 On the occasion of the today's inauguration of the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Croatia, headquartered in Rijeka, with the consular authorities over the territory including the County of Istria, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the Lika and Senj County, the mayor of the City of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel has met with the German Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, His Excellency, Bernd Fischer and the newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Croatia Robert Ježić.
