“Calm Sea” is a metal sculpture painted with acrylic paints, weighting about 500 kilograms. Its height is about four metres, it is about two metres long, and its width is about one metre.Vojo Radoičić was engaged by the City of Rijeka to create the sculpture, and the artist managed to integrate his work with the picture stretching over 170 square metres on the façade of the building behind the sculpture in Pavlinski trg. The City of Rijeka has invested HRK 940,000 in the realisation of this project.
The works of Vojo Radoičić are well recognised by the general public. He is engaged in painting, small plastic sculptures, children’s illustrations, applied graphic and textile design. The ship and the sea are frequent motives and the focus of his artistic interest and the source of creative energy. The sculpture was installed on the eve of the St. Vitus’ Day, the feast of the patron saint of Rijeka as a gift to all the citizens of Rijeka and to all those who discover Rijeka.
Vojo Radoičić has held more than 180 independent exhibitions in the country and abroad. For the necessities of television and theatre productions he has prepared more than 40 scenic designs. Radoičić is the winner of a number of recognitions and prizes.
