2008 Annual MCE Conference
"TRANSFORMATION OF LOCAL ADMINISTRATION"
Rijeka, June 9 – 11, 2008
From 9 to 11 June 2008, the City of Rijeka will host the 27th Annual Conference of the Major Cities of Europe – IT Users Group (MCE).
The Conference will be participated by many European cities reperesentatives - MCE members, as well as European ICT experts. Targets of the Conference are: exchange of experience, setting of guidelines for further ICT development within the local government and the role of ICT in the transformation of local administration.

Rijeka is the principal seaport of Croatia, located in Kvarner Bay, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea. There are 150,000 inhabitants and it is an administrative, cultural and university centre of a region with over 350,000 residents. According to the number of inhabitants, Rijeka is Croatia's third largest city, however, according to its economical and other importance, Rijeka holds the second position, after our capital of Zagreb. People of this region are well known for their openness to new ideas. A number of recent initiatives related to developing urban tourism with interesting events taking place on a rich industrial and cultural heritage are making the city a truly fascinating and fun place to visit.
The City authority has been working with ICT for a long time to meet demands of citizens, aiming to enable an information and knowledge society for all.
