The Jubilee Days of Slovakian Culture

The Days of Slovakian Culture, which have been organized for ten years in a row on the occasion of the Day of the Slovak Republic Constitution, were held from the 2nd till the 5th September in Rijeka. The traditional manifestation organized by the Slovak Matica in Rijeka and the representatives of the Slovak national minority in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County consisted of a large number of exhibitions, concerts and other programs.

Jubilean Days of Slovakian Culture The tenth Days of Slovakian Culture were opened by the mayor of Rijeka, Mr Vojko Obersnel, who also pointed out that the Slovak national minority in Rijeka, although small, is extremely active, and includes not only the members of the Slovak Matica in Rijeka, but also all citizens from Rijeka in its numerous programs.
“We are proud of the fact that Rijeka exudes with multi-culturality, in which anyone can find their place for expressing their national and cultural identity, always aiming at coexistence and tolerance”, said Mr Obersnel in his congratulatory message to the Slovak national minority on the Day of the Slovak Republic Constitution.
The assembly was addressed by the president of the Slovak Matica in Rijeka, Ms Miroslava Gržinić and the Member of Parliament representing the Slovak and Czech minority Ms Zdenka Čuhnil, who pointed out that Croatia and Slovakia are connected by their common history.
The patrons of the 10th Days of Slovakian Culture are the Council for National Minorities, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the City of Rijeka, Member of Parliament Ms Zdenka Čuhnil, the Slovak Matica in Slovakia and the representative of the Slovak national minority in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
