Opened the 15th edition of the World Junior Nine-Pin Bowling Championship

Last night at the sports hall of the Zamet Centre the 15th edition of the Under 23 World Nine-Pin Bowling Championship was opened in which 241 male and female bowlers from 17 countries will compete. The Zamet Centre hosted already on Saturday male bowlers who tested their mettle in individual cups - for juniors, boys and girls under the age of 18 and for cadets - boys and girls under the age of 14.

Raising the flag of the World Nine-Pin Bowling Association 110 junior girls from the following 14 countries take part in the 15th edition of the Under 23 World Junior Championship: Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Macedonia, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia and 131 junior boys from the same countries and the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Switzerland. The official delegations from 17 countries will include overall 305 persons. Medals are awarded in the following disciplines: team, tandem (former pairs), tandem mix, sprint, individual and classification by nations.

241 competitors and 17 national teams take part in the competition Mayor Vojko Obersnel proclaimed the World Junior Nine-Pin Bowling Championship opened and expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Rijeka hosted the young bowlers whose interest in this sport shows that bowling has a future. The mayor emphasised he hoped that the sports hall of the Zamet Centre opened a year earlier in September would in the best possible way host the World Nine-Pin Bowling Championship.

 

Mayor Obersnel proclaimed the World Bowling Championship opened The inauguration ceremony the World Junior Nine-Pin Bowling Championship was attended by Ludwig Kocsis, president of the World Nine-Pin Bowling Association and Siegfried Schweikardt, WNBA/NBC president, who expressed their tanks to the organisers – the City of Rijeka, the Croatian Bowling League and the Rijeka Sports League – for the excellent organisation of the competition, emphasising the functionality of the Zamet Centre. The national teams were also welcomed by Tonči Mikac, vice president of the Croatian Bowling League.
