Ambassador Fischer expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the Federal Republic of Germany finally has a honorary consul in this region of Croatia, whereby various formal procedures connected with the sojourn of German tourists in our region or those in connection with families of many people originating from this part of Croatia who spent a great deal of their life working in Germany, will be much facilitated.
Moreover, through the Honorary Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rijeka, the Embassy will be able to implement, in a simpler manner, different programmes aimed at promoting the learning of the German language at the earliest age and other programmes aimed at connecting German and domestic businessmen and their cooperation in joint European programmes relating to tourism, agriculture and industry, paying a particular attention to the segment of culture.
Mayor Obersnel welcomed the opening of the honorary consulate, emphasising that the 13th consular representative office in Rijeka, certainly indicates interest, first of all, of European countries in the development potentials of Rijeka. He also expressed his satisfaction with the support offered by the German Ambassador in finding and realising EU-funded projects, through cooperation between German and domestic partners.
