The Festival highlight is the première of the comedy in three parts by Dubravka Ugrešić "Baba jaga je snijela jaje" ("Baba Yaga laid an egg") adapted by Ivor Martinić, staged by Ivica Buljan, produced by the Croatian Drama and three fascinating actors Milena Dravić, Ana Karić and Milena Zupančić interpreting it. Within the music and scene programme the "Rijeka Summer Nights" festival presents the awarded last year's success, ambient opera "Cavalleria rusticana" and ballet "Othello", which choreography is created by Zoran Marković and Maša Kolar and in coproduction between the Theatre "Bitef" from Belgrade and the Theatre "Grad" from Budva.
The musical programme is also very rich, aiming to satisfy the most diverse musical tastes, from classical music and jazz to a concert of "world music".
The "Rijeka Summer Nights" festival will be inaugurated in its well-recognised style, by spectacle "Tambours de la Muerte" performed by French company "Transe-Express". This is their most recent spectacle, not yet presented in this part of Europe, and certainly the Festival's interesting closing ceremony called "In a sea of stars" will be an attraction taking place on a floating pontoon, providing us an occasion to enjoy the songs from the most popular musicals.
