Pupils from Csepel on a visit to Rijeka

A group of about twenty elementary school pupils from the Hungarian town Csepel, accompanied by their professors sojourns these days in Rijeka. Successful co-operation between Rijeka and Csepel lasting for thirteen years, every year results in a number of exchanges of pupils, sportsmen, scouts and many others.

The Department head Branka Renko-Silov during the visit to the pupils from Csapel This year the best pupils of the elementary schools in Csapel have arrived in Rijeka, who further to excellent marks, can boast numerous out-of-school activities and significant achievements in national and international competitions. The pupils sojourn at the elementary school "Kozala" with which already for seven years they have been fostering international cooperation. In the rich programme, they will visit Rijeka, Crikvenica, Krk, Opatija and Kostrena, while every minute free between sightseeing will be used to visit beaches and enjoy summer charms.

The head of the City Department of Education and Schooling, Branka Renko-Silov, accompanied by her associates visited the pupils from Csepel, presenting them sweet gifts. The Department head reminded them of the importance of this long-standing co-operation between the two cities, as well as of the fact that children are those who build the bridges of friendship between towns, and that the knowledge of other cultures, traditions and regions widens horizons and opens new ways.

In August of the current year, pupils attending the elementary school "Kozala", accompanied by their headmaster and a teacher will visit Csepel, where together with young Hungarians they will sojourn and work in a summer camp.
