Reception for the Israeli Ambassador

The mayor of the City of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel and the president of the City Council Dorotea Pešić-Bukovac have given a reception in honour of the Israeli Ambassador Yossi Amrani, who is on his first official visit to Rijeka. The topics of the talks included the promotion of closer co-operation in the field of the economy, science and culture, as well as closer connections between Rijeka and Israeli cities.

Yossi Amrani, Vojko Obersnel and Dorotea Pešić-Bukovac Mayor Obersnel expressed his satisfaction with the visit paid by the Ambassador of Israel and the talks about cooperation between Rijeka and Israeli universities, cultural programme exchanges and the promotion of the economy. Furthermore they talked about deepening the relationships between Rijeka and Israeli cities, first of all Haifa, a port city which shares many similarities with Rijeka.

Israeli Ambassador, Yossi Amrani pointed out that in Zagreb and many other parts of Croatia various programmes of Israeli culture were being held and that part of it could be presented to the Rijeka audience as well, perhaps already next summer. Speaking about cooperation between Rijeka and Israeli cities, Ambassador Yossi Amrani said that he had invited mayor Obersnel to visit Haifa, so that they may get to know better and exchange the development visions of the two very much alike cities.

From the reception in honour of the Israeli Ambassador Ambassador Amrani arrived in Rijeka to attend the Rijeka Carnival at the invitation of the Rijeka mayor, showing his enthusiasm about the International Carnival Procession and in particular about Korzo.

Israeli Ambassador, accompanied by the president of the Jewish Community Rijeka will also visit the refurbished synagogue in Rijeka, and a visit to Trsat is also scheduled.
