Rijeka and Skopje connected by charter flights

The promotional flight between Rijeka and Skopje will take place on Monday, 25 January, organised by the company GAT Executive from Rijeka, and will be the first among many flights scheduled two times a week all the year round between the Rijeka Airport and the Macedonian capital. The establishment of this airline is the first step of the regional air traffic connection aimed at developing the Krk Airport and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

Veseljko Bukvić, Verica Smilevska, Dančo Markovski, Mladen Pasarić and Ilija Hristodulov By connecting Skopje and Rijeka the realisation of the project will begin which objective is to connect regionally the countries in nearer geographical surroundings, in particular in summer months when tourist lines with Rijeka will be established as well.

His Excellency Dančo Markovski, ambassador of Macedonia to Croatia, pointed out his belief that that line was another step forward in cooperation between Macedonia and Rijeka, that would add to more significant linking between Rijeka and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County with Macedonia.

The director of the Rijeka Airport, Mladen Pasarić, emphasised that the introduction of the air connection with Skopje was a huge move for the Rijeka Airport, in particular during winter months when regular lines had not been organised.

Charter flights are initiated by the company GAT Executive, using the Macedonian airline company AirLift Services, owned by the German tour operator Skywings. The airplane to be used is Boeing 737-300 of the capacity of 148 passengers. The flights will be organised all year round, twice a week, on Monday (departure at 9:00 h from the Rijeka Airport) and on Friday (departure at 22:00 h from the Rijeka Airport), should additional capacities be necessary, additional weekly lines will be introduced.

The return ticket, including fees is priced at EUR 170, and the GAT Executive's offer will include tourist weekends or weekly arrangements to both destinations. It will be possible to buy tickets via the Internet.
