The cinema "Art-kino Croatia" admitted to the Europa Cinemas network

Rijeka, 27 October 2009
The cinema "Art-kino Croatia" has been admitted to the Europa Cinemas network. It is a network forming part of the EU MEDIA programme intended for the development of European films and the film industry.

Europa Cinemas - logo The network was set up in 1992 and it represents the first international film theatre network which objective is to strengthen the distribution of European films.

The membership in the network, voted in favour on the basis of the indicators of performance for the first six months, is another prove of the success achieved by the cinema "Art-kino Croatia" that at the very beginning of its work has posed itself as a focal point of the cultural life of Rijeka, clearly positioning itself on the Croatian film map and developing partnership relations with significant film industry operators, without compromising the film programme on that occasion.

The membership in the Europa Cinema network implies the exchange of knowledge, information, programmes, experience, in one word, closer connection with those European cinemas focussed on screening European films. Moreover, being a member of this network also means financial support to cinemas that commit themselves to screening European films.

This news has confirmed our commitment to developing a clear programme profile and expanding the space devoted to valuable films – documentaries, experimental films, animated films, feature films, both old and new ones.

We believe that we will contribute to the realisation of the goals set by the Europa Cinemas network– to increase European film programming in cinemas, encourage exhibitors to develop European initiatives aimed at young audiences, promote diversity and cultural differences within European programming and strengthen joint initiatives at national and European level.
