The City of Rijeka is a new member of the Board of Directors of the International Association Cities and Ports

The mayor of the City of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel, as representative of the City of Rijeka, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International Association Cities and Ports (AIVP) at the general meetng of the AIVP members held last week in Saint-Nazaire and Nantes, France.

Rijeka from the air - Danijel Frka In addition to Rijeka, Barcelona has been elected to the Board of Directors of the AIVP as well. The remaining Board members include the representatives of the port authorities of Mauritius, Helsinki, Morocco and five representatives of the business sector from France and the Netherlands. The 13th world conference of the International Association of Cities and Ports (AIVP) was held in Saint-Nazaire and Nantes, France from 18 to 21 June 2012. The conference was also attended by the representatives of the City of Rijeka and the Port of Rijeka Authority.

The AIVP is aimed at facilitating the global exchange of experience in the development of cities and ports. The topics of this year’s conference were dedicated to the introduction of new technology in port operation, transformation of port zones and port communication with citizens.
