With the intention to enrich the public areas of the city by placing sculptures created by contemporary authors, the City of Rijeka has accepted the realisation of an initiative launched by the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art to place the sculpture titled "The Walker" by Ivan Kožarić in downtown Rijeka. Unveiling the sculpture, mayor Obersnel said that there was no better place for this sculpture than Korzo, the city artery which symbolises the message of the Walker. The mayor said he hoped that the sculpture would enter into harmony with Rijeka and would become an inseparable part of its urban and creative tissue.
Since 2001 "The Walker" has been the property of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka. Ivan Kožarić is an author of incontestable creativity and creative power, whose sculptures have given particular distinction to external places where they are permanently located, making them very recognisable.
