Vojko Obersnel at the Plenary Session of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union

On Wednesday and Thursday, 15 and 16 February 2012, the mayor of the City of Rijeka and the president of the Association of Cities, Vojko Obersnel sojourns in Brussels to attend the Plenary Session of the Committee of Regions of the European Union. Mayor Obersnel was invited to the Session as president of the Croatian delegation of observers in the Committee.

The Committee of the Regions of the EU - CoR The Committee of the Regions (CoR) was established in 1992 as a body that at European level represents the interests of local and regional governments. At present, the Committee of the Regions has 344 members from 27 EU Member States. After its accession to the European Union next year, Croatia will have its representative in this Committee, until then it is entitled to have observers in the delegation consisting of nine members, composed by county presidents, mayors and municipal mayors. Recently Vojko Obersnel has been elected president of the mentioned delegation.

At the Plenary Session held today in Brussels, Obersnel, as president of the Croatian delegation of observers, has given a speech, which has been hereto attached.
