Steering Higher Education for Community Engagement – SHEFCE
September 2020 – August 2023
The Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes (AMPEU)
The SHEFCE project has been launched with the long-term aim of supporting community engagement of European universities, understood as university partnerships with local and regional stakeholders to address societal challenges. The project specifically aims at building capacities of universities, policymakers and stakeholders in Europe for mainstreaming community engagement in higher education.
The SHEFCE project is a follow-up to the project TEFCE – Towards a European Framework for Community Engagement in Higher Education that has developed a toolbox to support universities and policymakers in community and social engagement.
Project activities include parallel actions at local, national and European level. At local level, the project will apply methodologies to develop high-quality plans to improve community engagement; at national level, the project will develop analyses to support the creation of results-based policies; and European level, the project will design a valuable information resource for users, test innovative methodologies and tools for measuring university success in community engagement.
