The Gorup Mausoleum at the Kozala cemetery in Rijeka was built in 1882 according to the design created by the renowned Croatian sculptor Ivan Rendić. The relief titled “Departure”, a realistic presentation of the client who ordered it and his eight children is one of the top notch artworks created by Rendić. The artwork was ordered by Josip Gorup who was an entrepreneur and a wholesaler and the person who ordered the construction of the hotel “Europa“, an important person in the history of Rijeka. Since 19 February 2003, the Gorup Mausoleum has been protected as cultural heritage.

The reconstruction of the Gorup Mausoleum was carried out in 2006, and it included restoration works of the stone and metal parts and mosaic.
