The Croatian Small Scenes Theatre in Rijeka was launched by the  HKD Theatre  owing to good atmosphere prevailing at the theatre.

Competing with international spectacles over the years, the festival has grown into the International Small Scenes Festival.

Leading Croatian and foreign theatres that promote scene expression of the so called small form, as well as a number of private theatre groups have presented themselves at the festival to date. A specific of the Festival is also the share of the audience in the overall atmosphere and events.

Following each spectacle, the theatre organises discussions and roundtables.

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia expressed its interest in the Festival by adding the festival to its annual funding programme.
