The Ri Rock festival is one of the oldest festivals of unknown and demo bands that has marked musical culture in Rijeka, and has been regularly held since 1979. The period of punk and new wave was a particularly important chapter of the rock story of Rijeka, when Rijeka grew into the leader of the Croatian punk scene. Bands like Paraf, Termiti, Grad, Grč, Let 3, Laufer, Urban & 4 and many others gained affirmation owing to this festival.

The Ri Rock festival is the central event of the alternative scene in Rijeka and many famous personalities made their first musical steps on its stage.
