Homeless people can seek temporary accommodation with the Homeless shelter “The Roses of St. Fanicis”, established in 2007 by the profane Franciscan order of the Local Board of Trsat in a premises provided by the Rijeka Archdiocese. The City of Rijeka has financed the work of this shelter ever since its foundation.

The shelter has the capacity of 12 beds, and the City finances the programme that relates to accommodation and meals for homeless people. In addition to accommodation of homeless people, that are directed to the shelter through the Social Welfare Centre in Rijeka, the programme is particularly focussed on their rehabilitation and resocialisation in order to ensure their return to society in a quality manner. All persons that are hosted by the shelter have right to a hot meal or to the soup kitchen.
