From the beginning of the 20th century until 2004 Rijeka citizens could bury their pets in Rijeka, in the pet cemetery, situated in Kozala, Lukovići. The pet cemetery was closed due to the new Veterinary Act that does not allow citizens to bury animals in the grounds, but only cremation, in the cremation premises predicted for this purpose.
