This category of citizens may take advantage of free bus rides on all urban public transport lines within zone 1, since the City of Rijeka, on their behalf, settles entire costs in favour of the utility company Autotrolej, that provides transport services, while part of them are enabled to buy the monthly bus pass for zone 1 at a significantly more favourable price than the regular price (50% of the price).
Who can receive assistance?
People below 65 years of age classified as unemployed or economically inactive people (exclusively retired people, housewives or adults incapable of work) and a member of the household that is a beneficiary of the guaranteed minimum compensation provided by the Social Welfare Centre Rijeka or of a household whose monthly average income over the last three months is lower than the income threshold set by the City of Rijeka for each number of household members (threshold for a single person is HRK 2,875, for a household composed of two members HRK 3,625, a household composed of three members HRK 4,875, a household composed of four members HRK 6,250, households with more members + HRK 875 for each additional member).
How to realise assistance?
In order to get this type of assistance, requests should be submitted at the counter hall of the City of Rijeka, at the address: Titov trg 3, counters 4 and 5 on working days from 8:30 to 15:30 h.
The annual bus pass is retrieved at the counter of the company Rijeka plus, on which occasion, the decision of the City of Rijeka, Department of Health and Social Welfare shall be presented on the recognition of the right to social welfare in order to settle public transport costs. The bus pass is valid for an unlimited number of bus rides from the date of approval until the end of the calendar year, thereafter citizens may again apply for this assistance.
During the procedure of recognising and realising the right facts and circumstances may undergo changes (for instance, the number of family members may change or the address) that must be timely communicated to the Health and Social Welfare Department by the applicant or the beneficiary.
