Before the beginning of the school year, the City of Rijeka assigns to primary school pupils one-off gift vouchers in the amount ranging from 250 to HRK 700 (every year the mayor of the City of Rijeka brings in a conclusion whereby determining the amount of assistance) for the purchase of new textbooks.

The value of the gift – voucher depends on the class that the child attends and a condition provided by the Social programme of the City of Rijeka that the beneficiary meets..

Gift vouchers in the amount of HRK 500 for textbooks of pupils attending lower primary school (year one to four) or in the amount of HRK 1,000 for textbooks of pupils attending higher primary school (year five to eight) can be realised by a child, member of the household that is the beneficiary of the guaranteed minimum compensation.

Gift vouchers in the amount of HRK 250 for textbooks of pupils attending lower primary school (year one to four) or in the amount of HRK 500 for textbooks of pupils attending higher primary school (year five to eight) can be realised by a child who is a beneficiary of the care allowance or is entitled to the disability allowance or a foster child.

The beneficiaries are obliged to keep the textbooks that they receive, and give them back to the City of Rijeka upon completion of the school years, so that other children may use them next school year.

Who can receive assistance?

Children – pupils attending primary school that achieve the right to the disability allowance or the care allowance payable by the Social Welfare Centre Rijeka, children living in households that are beneficiaries of the guaranteed minimum compensation payable by the Social Welfare Centre Rijeka or in households with average monthly income over the last three months that is below the income threshold determined by the City of Rijeka for single number of household members (threshold for a household composed of three members HRK 6,825, a household composed of four members HRK 8,750, households with more members + HRK 1,225 for each additional member) or a single-parent family (a family composed of a child or children and only one parent who alone parents them) whose average monthly income over the last three months is below the income threshold set by the City of Rijeka for each number of household members (threshold for a household composed of two members is HRK 6,090, for a household composed of three members HRK 8,190, for a household composed four members HRK 10,500, for households with more members + HRK 1,470 for each additional member) and foster children.

How to realise assistance?

In order to get this type of assistance, requests should be submitted at the counter hall of the City of Rijeka, at the address: Titov trg 3, counter no. 5, on working days from 8.30 to 15.30.
