The main goal of the project “I love the city that donates” is to show the positive side of organ donation, respond to various ambiguities tied to the donation process and in this way raise the awareness, in particular of young people. Apart from the fact that citizens are not sufficiently informed, the main problem is in the rising number of patients who need an organ transplant, while the organ shortage for transplantation is growing. It is known that annually from 10 to 30 per cent of the patients on the waiting list die while waiting for organ donation.
