The Sports Strategy of the City of Rijeka 2018-2024 emphasises as its priority that a maximum number of children and young people, citizens of all ages, people with disabilities and hearing impaired people should be included in sports and recreation, while an additional importance is given to top sports. The term sports also includes recreation and orientation towards a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, the vision of sports in the city of Rijeka in 2024: the city of Rijeka – sports and recreation available for eveybody!

On the other hand, the Strategy is aimed at developing the entire system, starting form the funding model and infrastructure, digital transformation and including sports in all life segments of the local community – ECC, tourism, culture, entrepreneurship and education.

The Sports Strategy of the City of Rijeka 2018-2024 has been drawn up in cooperation with the Rijeka Sports Association and the Department of Sports and Technical Culture of the City of Rijeka.

With the aim of implementing the strategy, action plans are prepared on an annual basis, which define projects, project promoters, deadlines, funding and the benchmarks owing to which the realisation of the strategic goals will be regularly monitored.
