cooperation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>City of Rijeka \u2013 integration function of transport systems<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordination of transport entities<\/li>\n<li>Sustainability of the public urban transport system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Projects within the first strategic goal<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The construction of the Zagreb pier container terminal<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>will enable docking of the largest container ships of a draft up to 18 m, whereby the port of Rijeka will become more competitive and will significantly increase its TEU capacity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By constructing D-403<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong>the Zagreb pier container terminal will be connected to the bypass and Zvonimir street, thus enabling the opening of a new western entrance to the city centre.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By constructing a double track railway from Delnice to \u0160apjane that will pass through Rijeka a possibility will open up <\/strong>to introduce a fast city railway line.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Introduction of the fast city railway line<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>will unburden and improve public transport in the city.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The City takes part in the modernisation of Rijeka Airport, assisted by its strategic partner<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong>whereby the competitiveness of Rijeka Airport will enhance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The City takes part in the realisation of the business and logistic zones Miklavje and \u0160krljevo, <\/strong>whereby indirectly helping create more jobs in the territory of Rijeka.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The City takes part in the construction of a marina within the port Baro\u0161 area with accompanying facilities,<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>whereby this part of the city will be transformed into an attractive zone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The city takes part in the construction of the Delta zone as a new area dedicated to citizens,<\/strong> thus responding to the needs for public facilities, hotels, a congress centre, flats and business premises in this new city centre.<\/li>\n<li><strong>by constructing the \u201cWest \u017dabica\u201d complex, \u201c\u017dabica \u2013 Mlaka\u201d tunnel and the Railway Station <\/strong>bus and rail transport will be regulated, which realisation will be enabled through EU-funds<\/li>\n<li><strong>The construction of public garages<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the zones \u017dabica and Gomila will enrich the city\u2019s parking infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By reconstructing the Rijeka breakwater<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>new facilities dedicated to citizens and tourists will be offered.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By removing cars from Adami\u0107 Pier and from the waterfronts<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong>downtown Rijeka will get a new pedestrian zone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By removing the railway embankment in the \u0160kolji\u0107 zone<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>conditions will be in place to reconstruct this zone and move the garage of <em>Autotrolej<\/em> to a new location.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The construction of\u00a0 roundabouts<\/strong> in feasible locations (Plumbum, Martinkovac, crossroad Prvomajska \u2013 Osje\u010dka), will improve traffic fluidity and will save time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By constructing a cable car in Trsat<\/strong> an additional option of public city transport will be available that will be used in particular to connect in a faster way the University Campus and the city centre.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By strengthening the role of the logistics cluster of the Rijeka traffic corridor<\/strong> conditions will be in place for the promotion of the entire project package that the Rijeka traffic corridor implies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By further introducing gas buses in public city transport<\/strong>, this activity will transform into an energy efficient and environmentally acceptable system.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By encouraging and co-financing energy efficient programmes<\/strong> project realisation will continue including, for instance, installation of photo voltaic
