The signal strength in the\u00a0coverage\u00a0zone is up to 50 dB, which, together with its size, makes this network the highest quality Wi-Fi zone in Croatia. The speed of wireless Internet access is up to 200 MBit\/s synchronous.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the territory of the city of Rijeka, the System of Free Wireless Internet Access for all users that use portable computers, tablets and Smartphones was developed by the City of Rijeka, in cooperation with the company \u201cKrk sistemi&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Limits <\/strong>set\u00a0by the system are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Disabled use of P2P programme <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Disabled access to the Internet pages generally considered as objectionable and non-affirmative <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Size of data allowed for transfer over HTTP limited to 10 MB <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Disabled\u00a0use of\u00a0FTP<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Disabled\u00a0use of VPN\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Total size of e-mail limited to\u00a03 MB\u00a0 <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The free wireless Internet signal covers the downtown area, part of Trsat, the swimming-pool complex at Kantrida, Zamet Centre, Kantrida Athletic Hall, the cinema &#8220;Art-kino Croatia&#8221; and the Astronomy Centre Rijeka, and since September 2013 also the Rijeka Clinical Hospital Centre &#8211; Kantrida Children\u2019s Hospital and owing to support from the Ministry of Tourism also the Railway Station Rijeka and part of the Old town (Put Vele Crikve, part of square Pavlinski trg, and part of U\u017earska st.). Since July 2014, square Juraj Klovi\u0107 \u2013 Archaeological Park and square Tito, that were subsidised by the Ministry of Tourism. Since November 2016, the service of free wireless internet access of the City of Rijeka has been available on the Campus through 30 access points of the University of Rijeka, as an additional service to the existing eduroam network, at the Academy of Applied Arts, at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Teacher Education, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University Departments and at the Student Centre. Since July 2018, the area covered by free wireless internet access of the City of Rijeka has been extended to the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the \u201cMali salon\u201d gallery and the Croatian Cultural Centre of Su\u0161ak.<\/p>\n<p>Within the initiative WiFi4EU \u2013 Free Wi-Fi for Europeans 2019, the area covered by free wireless Internet access has been widened to St. Barbara Sq., \u0160i\u0161mi\u0161 Sq., Rije\u010dka rezolucija Sq., Kru\u017ena St. and the Rijeka Pensioners\u2019 Association, Kre\u0161imir St. (Art-cinema Croatia, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art), and to the public area of the future Art-quarter, all funded by a voucher awarded by the European Commission.<\/p>\n<p>The area covered by free wireless Internet of the City of Rijeka is visible on the \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gis.rijeka.hr\/\">Geoportal of the City of Rijeka<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1421\" height=\"934\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4754 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-u-centru-Rijeke.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-u-centru-Rijeke.jpg 1421w, https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-u-centru-Rijeke-600x394.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-u-centru-Rijeke-768x505.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-u-centru-Rijeke-1200x789.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-u-centru-Rijeke-913x600.jpg 913w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1421px) 100vw, 1421px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Signal coverage in the downtown area forms a \u201ccircle\u201d Jadran Sq. \u2013 Korzo \u2013 Kobler Sq. &#8211; Juraj Klovi\u0107 Sq. &#8211; Ignacije Hencke St. \u2013 Riva \u2013 Split St. \u2013 Jadran Sq. &#8211; \u017dabica bus terminal &#8211; Ante Star\u010devi\u0107 St., including also part of the Rijeka breakwater near the passenger terminal and Theatre Sq. (Croatian National Theatre Ivan Zajc) and Museum Sq. (Rijeka Civic Museum).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4755 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-na-Trsatu-1024x605.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"605\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The area covered by free wireless Internet at Trsat includes the area from the Trsat Castle and the Marian Sanctuary of Trsat to the Youth Sports Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Since April 2015, the eduroam service has been available within the area covered by the signal of free wireless internet access of the City of Rijeka.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4756 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-na-Bazenima.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1596\" height=\"927\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-na-Bazenima.jpg 1596w, https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-na-Bazenima-600x348.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-na-Bazenima-768x446.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-na-Bazenima-1200x697.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.rijeka.hr\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/01\/Wi-Fi-na-Bazenima-1000x581.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1596px) 100vw, 1596px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are overall\u00a0135 access points, out of which\u00a053 are situated in 22 different locations in the downtown area, while 14 are placed in three different locations at Trsat and\u00a010 at the Kantrida swimming-pool complex,\u00a05 at the Zamet Centre,\u00a02 at the Kantrida Athletic Hall,\u00a03 at the cinema \u201cArt-kino Croatia\u201d,\u00a0\u00a011 at\u00a0the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, 6 at the Croatian Cultural Centre, 3 at the Astronomy Centre Rijeka,2 at the Rijeka Pensioners&#8217; Association, \u00a03 at the Rijeka Railway Station and\u00a023 within the Kantrida Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The project makes use of\u00a0 Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) technology, i.e. wireless computer network based on IEEE 802.11 specifications that prescribe standards of wireless communication, developed by the workgroup of the 11th international body IEEE 802. Wi-Fi is a trademark of Wi-Fi Alliance that prescribes standards and issues certificates for all WI-Fi devices.<\/p>\n<p>All that is necessary to connect to the Internet by using Wi-Fi technology is a card that is today a component of every portable computer, tablet or smart phone, and it represents the simplest form of wireless connection.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A maximum number of the users who can simultaneously use free Internet access is 5,400.
