The project represents the modernisation of the existing vehicle fleet owing to the acquisition of 32 new buses. Within the project, information displays will be introduced that announce bus arrivals at bus stops, furthermore, smart traffic lights will be introduced at 6 intersections in the city, and a mobile and web application will be developed that announces bus arrivals at bus stops.<\/p>\n
The project is being implemented under the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020”, within Priority Axis 7 “Connectivity and Mobility”, Investment Priority 7ii Development and Improvement of Environmentally Friendly Transport Systems (including those with low noise levels), and low-carbon transport systems, including inland waterways and maritime transport, ports, multimodal connections and airport infrastructure, in order to promote sustainable regional and local mobility.<\/p>\n
Specific Objective 7ii2 \u201cIncreasing the number of transported passengers in urban public transport\u201d is aimed at improving urban public transport, in particular through sustainable low-carbon capacities. The implementation of this goal will result in increasing the capacity and use of urban public transport, as well as, in promoting change in the transport form, i.e., strengthening the competitiveness of public transport over passenger cars.<\/p>\n
Improving capacities by increasing travel speed and reducing operating costs, improving traffic reliability and safety, reducing emissions and air pollution, increasing the number of transported passengers in public transport in regard to passenger cars, adapting to EU standards, introducing modern passenger information systems and increasing the availability of information for passengers.<\/p>\n
Acquiring and putting into service a new passenger vehicle fleet, introducing information displays that announce bus arrivals at bus stops, introducing smart traffic lights at 6 intersections in the territory of the city of Rijeka and developing a mobile and web application that announces bus arrivals at bus stops.<\/p>\n
