The Summer School which is organised by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Rijeka this year takes place from 4 to 15 July and it gathered 30 participants from 9 countries. They are undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates from Croatia, Europe and other countries from all over the world who are interested in the themes such as the European Union, the processes of European integration and in doing business in an international environment.<\/p>\n

During the meeting with the students, Mayor Filipovi\u0107 said that Rijeka was a leader in Croatia in terms of the use of EU funds, not only in terms of the amount of funding but also in terms of the financed number of projects. \u201cCurrently in Rijeka we have a number of projects that are in the phase of realisation or are moving in that direction, many of them funded by the European Union. I believe that many of you know that Rijeka was the European Capital of Culture in 2020, and the Ben\u010di\u0107 Art Quarter has remained as a legacy of that project, where we transformed old industrial buildings into cultural buildings. The construction of ACI Marina Rijeka, which will be the most modern marina for yachts on the Adriatic, is also planned, works are being carried out on D403 road, and the construction of a new bus station is also envisaged. We also have various programmes to encourage entrepreneurship and economic activities, with this purpose we built the Bodulovo Business Zone, and with the Energana (power plant) project we are creating an incubator for the development of creative technologies and the IT industry”, the mayor highlighted some of the projects. He added that Rijeka had been declared the most transparent city in Croatia for several years in a row, and that the City of Rijeka had an app Open Budget application, enabling all citizens to have an insight into the budget and spending of budgetary funds. The mayor wished all the participants a pleasant stay in Rijeka and to take back home lovely memories from it.<\/p>\n
