The first Advent candle in Ivan Kobler square was lit by the Archbishop of Rijeka, Msgr. Ivan Devčić.
This year’s theme relating to the decoration of the Advent wreath in Kobler square is the Year of Reading. The children and teachers of the Kindergarten More joined the decoration initiative. With the artisan technique of papier maché they wrapped discarded balls with old books and reused them, thus designing and preparing the decorations for the Advent wreath.
Rijeka mayor Marko Filipović, president of the City Council Ana Trošelj, deputy mayors Sandra Krpan and Goran Palčevski and the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Rijeka Petar Škarpa attended the lighting of the first Advent candle.
