The Council of the City of Rijeka, by a majority vote, has adopted the Budget of the City of Rijeka for 2021 in the amount of HRK 1,210,161,834 and a number of documents related to the budget.

The 31st session of the City Council of the City of Rijeka took place for three days. The first day, in the hall of the Zamet Center, the councillors partly live and partly online, discussed the proposed materials, while the next two days they expressed their opinion via electronic means.

The 2021 budget of the City of Rijeka and projections for 2022 and 2023 have been adopted by a majority vote. The 2021 budget of the City of Rijeka amounts to HRK 1,210,161,834, and the total expenditures amount to HRK 1,180,200,000. The projection of total income for 2022 amounts to HRK 1,058,813,207, and expenditures to HRK 1,028,500,000, while the projection of income for 2023 amounts to HRK  922,231,207, and expenditures to HRK 893,300,000.

The Council has also adopted documents related to the 2021 budget: the Programmes of public needs in culture, sports and technical culture and the Plan for the distribution of income collected on behalf of the monument annuity.

The City Council has also adopted other amendments to the 2020 budget.

The City Council has also adopted the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP) of the City of Rijeka which bring in a total of 24 climate change mitigation measures. The mitigation measures to be implemented by 2030 will result in a reduction in CO2 emissions in 2030 of 47.32% compared to reference year 2008, thus meeting the 40% target under the Covenant of Mayors.
