The City Department of Finance invites legal entities and natural persons to file their holiday home tax returns for 2021.

Who are persons liable to file the tax return?

The payers liable to file their tax returns are owners of holiday homes in the territory the city of Rijeka. Fines are envisaged in the event that the taxpayer fails to file the tax return.

What is meant by the term holiday home?

The term holiday home shall mean any building or its part or a flat used occasionally or seasonally. A farm building that is used for storing agricultural machinery, tools and other equipment shall not be considered a holiday home.

What is the deadline for filing and how can the tax return be filed?

For the purpose of holiday home tax assessment for 2021, the taxpayers liable to file their tax returns with necessary information can do so by 31 March 2021.

The City of Rijeka has also enabled online filing via an online form that can be sent via the information service or electronically signed and sent by e-mail: gradski.porezi@rijeka.hr.

What if you fail to file your tax return?

In the event of a failure to file the tax return with information necessary to assess the tax, fines are envisaged for a violation in an amount ranging from HRK 2,000.00 to 25,000.00, pursuant to the Local Taxes Act.
