The representative of the City of Rijeka took part in the annual meeting of the WHO European Healthy Cities Network held in the Hungarian city of Pecs. During the conference Rijeka presented its projects “The Society in Which I Learn and Feel Good” and “Rijeka in Movement“. Furthermore, a meeting of a particular group operating within the European Healthy Cities Network was held addressing healthy ageing problems, in which the City of Rijeka also takes part.

The City of Rijeka was represented by Karla Mušković, head of the Department of Health and Social Welfare and co-ordinator of the “Rijeka – Healthy City” project and Jadran Mandekić, manager of the “Rijeka – Healthy City” project.

During the conference Rijeka presented its projects “The Society in Which I Learn and Feel Good” and “Rijeka in Movement“.

During the conference the City of Rijeka presented its projects “The Society in Which I Learn and Feel Good” and “Rijeka in Movement“. The activities of the project “The Society in Which I Learn and Feel Good” were initiated in 2005, aiming to integrate older people into society by using information technology. The activities include: organising  free IT courses, providing facilities and equipment, setting up and maintaining the website dedicated to third agers http://penzici.rijeka.hr.

The campaign titled “Rijeka in Movement“ has been continuously organised ever since 2011 and it includes a number of activities and events aimed at promoting physical activities and healthy lifestyles. Reaction from the attendees to the presentations was very positive, and the projects were recognised as innovative examples of good practices.
