Representatives of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the City of Rijeka held a joint reception for Mr. Mark Fleming, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America, and his associates, Ms. Emily Stoll and Mr. Crown Badel.

Mr. Fleming was received by Vojko Braut, county deputy president and Marko Filipović, Rijeka mayor. Given that this was the first official visit to Rijeka and the county paid by Mr. Fleming, during the reception the mayor and deputy president presented the city and county profiles.

Speaking about key strategic projects, the mayor and deputy president especially emphasised the large investments in port and transport infrastructure in the region, with the inevitable development of tourist and nautical capacities. In this context, the guests highlighted the long-standing successful cooperation between the US Army with the Viktor Lenac shipyard and expressed hope that that cooperation would continue in the future.

They also discussed the development projects that ensure energy independence for the Republic of Croatia and open a great opportunity for business development in energy distribution throughout a wider region, and also potentials for energy production from renewable sources in a wider county area
