Already for a long time, the City of Rijeka has been taking part in projects funded by the European Union, basically in two ways:

• as a project partner and
• by co-financing EU grant beneficiaries.

Through international cooperation and the above mentioned funding sources of the EU, the City of Rijeka has realised a number of successful projects and activities that contributed to the improvement of the City of Rijeka and its convergence towards EU standards. These projects relate to projects promoted by the City of Rijeka, its institutions and associated companies, and civil society organisations.
