The 10th edition of the Rijeka Summer Nights – a star in the European sky

The first minutes of 1 July will mark the beginning of this year’s 10th edition of the Rijeka Summer Nights on “Karolina Riječka” Pier, with the performance of Beethoven’s "Ode to the Joy", anthem of the European Union, especially adapted for the occasion. In addition to the inauguration of the summer festival in Rijeka, it will also solemnly mark Croatia’s entry into the European Union. The jubilee, 10th edition of the Rijeka culture festival, will take place from 30 June to 25 July and is organised by the Croatian National Theatre “Ivan Zajc”, the City of Rijeka and the Rijeka Tourist Board.

The Train for Europe arrived in Rijeka

Today, at the Rijeka Railway Station two minutes ahead of schedule, within the SETA project, the Train for Europe has arrived from the Italian city of Monfalcone. Within the SETA project solutions are being developed and searched to traffic connection between Europe’s north and south, a corridor between the Baltic and the Adriatic. On this occasion, Rijeka mayor Vojko Obersnel, Omar Greco, deputy mayor of Monfalcone and Danijel Cep, deputy mayor of the commune of Koper have signed a protocol on cooperation.

Inaugurated the Islamic Centre in Rijeka

The Islamic Centre, built in line with the conceptual project drawn by Dušan Džamonja, was inaugurated on Saturday 4 May, in the presence of numerous guests from Croatia and abroad, representatives of religious communities and more than 20 thousand visitors from around the world. This building, owing to its exceptional architectural, building and cultural values, has already been called the most beautiful mosque in Europe.

Rijeka and Opatija to host NEXPO, the South-East Europe International Municipal Fair

From 25 to 27 September Rijeka and Opatija will host NEXPO, the South-East Europe International Municipal Fair. NALAS is the coordinator of the manifestation, which is organised by: NALAS, the Association of Cities of the Republic of Croatia, the Association of Municipalities of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Rijeka and the City of Opatija.

Announced the 20th edition of the International Small Scene Theatre Festival

The 20th edition of the International Small Scene Theatre Festival will take place from 2 to 11 May at the Croatian Cultural Centre at Sušak, at the Croatian National Theatre “Ivan Zajc”, at the “Kortil” gallery and for the first time at the Czech Cultural Centre “T. Masaryk” and warehouse N. 40 in the port “Baroš”. This year’s edition of the festival programme, which includes overall eleven plays, in addition to Croatian plays, offers also Serbian, Slovenian Lithuanian and Macedonian plays.

A new web camera – streaming live from Korzo

In cooperation with the company saan.tv, i.e. the site “Gledaj Hrvatsku”, providing live views of many Croatian cities, on 1 February 2013, we placed on our site a webcam streaming a live picture of Korzo. Over the next three-month period the camera will be tested.

Elderly people in Rijeka have got their website

The website adjusted to third agers was presented in the premises of the Rijeka City Administration, aimed at improving the social inclusion of elderly people in Rijeka. This website, which forms part of the Healthy Aging Strategy, implemented with the objective to increase the level of third agers’ social integration, was realised with assistance of the representatives of the Kantrida Nursing Home and the Central Association of Rijeka pensioners.
