With a donation worth HRK 300,000, Erste Bank continues to invest in sports clubs, thus promoting sports in the city of Rijeka.

The signing of the agreement between Erste Bank, the City of Rijeka and the Rijeka Sports Association was held in the premises of the City of Rijeka. The donation made by Erste Bank is intended for further support and development of the Water Polo Club Primorje EB, Basketball Club Kvarner, Bowling Club Vargon and Women’s Handball Club Zamet, as well as for the work of the Rijeka Sports Association.

The donation agreement was signed by the mayor of the City of Rijeka Marko Filipović, the president of the Management Board of Erste Bank Christoph Schoefboeck and the president of the Rijeka Sports Association Dorotea Pešić Bukovac.

During the signing of the agreement, mayor Marko Filipović pointed out successful cooperation with Erste Bank lasting for many years. “Investing in sports contributes to the prosperity of the entire community, and the selected clubs, whom this donation is intended for, have been achieving for many years notable sports results,” said Filipovic, thanking the president of Erste Bank for successful cooperation during a number of events and projects from which Rijeka citizens ultimately have major benefits. Filipović also reminded that Rijeka would held the title of European City of Sports in 2022, and also that additional investments in sports were envisaged.

Christoph Schoefboeck, president of the Management Board of Erste Bank, said: “The City of Rijeka is an extremely important business partner, since the headquarters of our bank in Croatia are located in Rijeka. This donation and investment in the sports clubs in Rijeka is the manner in which we invest in community development,” said Schoefboeck, adding that in addition to sports at local level, they continuously invest in culture and numerous other events and programmes.
