The grand finale of the European Capital of Culture programme, which will offer over 50 various events to the audience by the end of the month, begins with the exhibitions “Retrovizor 2020 – ECC Photo Gallery” and “Fiume Fantastika – Phenomena of the City” set up in the premises of Export in the zone Delta in Rijeka.
Presented ten new buses acquired by the utility company Autotrolej within the EU project “Strengthening the public transport system”
The utility company Autotrolej presented 10 out of the 32 new buses acquired as part of the project titled “Strengthening the public transport system”, for which an EU grant was provided through the Integrated Territorial Investments mechanism (ITI ) within the Rijeka Urban Agglomeration.
At the beginning of March 2021, Rijeka was declared European City of Sports in 2022. The title is a confirmation of the city’s sports orientation to date, and also an opportunity for the city holding this title to further develop its sports orientation in the year of declaration.
According to the annual report of the utility company “Vodovod i kanalizacija”, in 2020 the health safety of water delivered by this utility company to about 186,000 inhabitants in the territory of the cities of Rijeka, Bakar, Kastav and Kraljevica and the municipalities of Čavle, Jelenje, Kostrena, Viškovo and Klana was excellent.

Owing to EU grants, the City of Rijeka has carried out energy renovation of 20 schools and kindergartens
Since 2016 to date, with support from EU funds, the City of Rijeka has carried out energy renovation of 20 kindergartens and schools and the “old” building of the Rijeka Civic Museum, namely overall 21 public buildings. The preparation of project documentation for energy renovation of 15 schools and kindergartens was also financed by EU funds.
The representatives of the City of Rijeka have visited the construction site of the building that will host the future Rijeka Civic Library, which is being refurbished within the former industrial complex Benčić and should be completed by next spring.
Čistoća utility company has agreed on more favourable disposal of bulky waste, so that the price payable by citizens for waste collection goes down. The mayor of Rijeka gave his consent to the reduced garbage hauling price.

The utility company Autotrolej presented 7 of the 32 new buses acquired within the project titled “Strengthening the public transport system”, for which an EU grant was provided through the Integrated Territorial Investments mechanism (ITI ) within the Rijeka Urban Agglomeration.
The mayor of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel and the director of the company Tehnix Đuro Horvat, on behalf of the community of bidders Tehnix and GP Krk signed the contract in the Rijeka city hall for the construction and equipment of the sorting plant for separately collected waste (sorting plant) in Mihačeva Draga.
