For the next four years, SPAR Croatia will sponsor two major Rijeka events: the sports and recreation festival “Homo si teć” (Let’s go running) and the International Carnival.

A cooperation agreement was signed in the premises of the City of Rijeka between the City of Rijeka and the company SPAR Croatia. The agreement was signed by Rijeka Mayor Marko Filipović and Helmut Fenzl, C.E.O. at SPAR Croatia. By signing the agreement, SPAR Croatia has undertaken to sponsor two major events in Rijeka for the next four years: the sports and recreation festival Let’s go running and the International Carnival.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Petar Škarpa, director of the Tourist Board of the city of Rijeka and Miroslav Krzyk, director of the company Altermedia, a co-organiser of the sports and recreation festival Let’s go running.

Thanking SPAR for their support, mayor Filipović said that due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the two most attractive events of the Rijeka Carnival: the Children’s Parade and the International Parade, had been postponed to a summer term, namely to June.

THE SIGNING OF THE COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND SPAR

“I believe the situation with the COVID 19 pandemic would somewhat stabilise and allow us to organise these events. Moreover, the sports and recreation festival Let’s go running the largest sporting event in Croatia will be organised in June, also in June is the feast day of our patron saint San Vitus, which indicates that June will be characterised by a number of attractive events. The manifestation Let’s go running and the International Carnival have become part of the identity of Rijeka, so I am very happy that SPAR-Croatia has recognised their importance and that by sponsoring them will help contribute that Rijeka this time as well shows up in all its splendour”, said Filipović.

“Ten years ago we started several projects in Rijeka, which in the meantime followed one another. We want to be a long-term partner, therefore we will support these largest manifestations in Rijeka for several year. The current year is difficult and uncertain. This agreement also represents a confirmation of the excellent cooperation with the city administration and a firm decision to continue supporting the community in which we operate in such unstable times, so it is good that Rijeka has a strong partner like SPAR Croatia”, said Fenzl.
