Rijeka and Karlsruhe have been fostering friendly relationships for ten years

Rijeka and Karlsruhe have been fostering friendly relationships for ten years, and in addition to cooperation in the field of art and culture, both cities would like to further develop cooperation. “In today’s talks, we tackled the topics that we could develop in the future, especially in the segments of the economy and sports. We discussed the possibility of improving tourist traffic, especially an eventual increase in the number of airlines towards our airport on the island of Krk. We also discussed the topic of public transport, as Karlsruhe has successfully solved the problem of traffic jams with the ‘car sharing’ model. During this meeting an initiative was launched to get better acquainted with their model, “said Mayor Filipović.

He also mentioned the German-Croatian community of Karlsruhe and its surroundings, led by Mirjana Diminić. The community has been active for 30 years and has an important role in developing good relations between our two cities.

The Deputy Mayor of Karlsruhe Albert Käuflein pointed out that culture and art are building bridges between people, bridges that do not depend on the languages that people speak and the cultural circles they come from. “We will continue to develop art and culture through our cooperation, and among the topics that we discussed, is the ‘car sharing’ model and I am glad that you are interested in it. We are experienced in this and we will work on the creation of a network of contacts between business people from Rijeka and Karlsruhe so that they can achieve potential cooperation in this field, “said the Deputy Mayor of Karlsruhe Albert Käuflein after the meeting.
