The Deputy Mayor of the City of Rijeka, Sandra Krpan, met with the deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Croatia, Homma Latif.

During the meeting bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, as well as the possibilities of further cooperation between the City of Rijeka and the Kingdom of Norway.

Speaking about Rijeka, deputy mayor Krpan pointed out that in 2020 Rijeka had been the European Capital of Culture, representing a good basis for cooperation in the field of culture, furthermore she pointed out the developed University, as well as interest in exchanging experiences of good practice in the field of education.

Possibilities of future cooperation between Rijeka and Norway were discussed

“Digital transformation of the city as well as access to and use of new technologies are some of the main goals and visions of the city’s development in the future. The Kingdom of Norway stands out as a good example of the development and use of modern and green technology, as well as sustainable development and development in the field of energy, from which example and experience, I think, we can learn a lot for our own further development,” explained deputy mayor Krpan.

Deputy Ambassador Latif highlighted successful cooperation between the City of Rijeka and the Kingdom of Norway to date, visible in the fact that Rijeka is one of the three cities in Croatia with the consulate of the Kingdom of Norway.

She also expressed her interest in cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture and education, during the meeting they discussed possibilities of exchanging experiences in mental health problems among children and young people caused by the global pandemic of the corona virus.

At the end of the meeting, deputy mayor Krpan and deputy Ambassador Latif exchanged gifts and expressed their wishes for further cooperation.
