The fire fighting community of the City of Rijeka joins and co-ordinates the activities of professional and voluntary fire brigades in the territory of the City of Rijeka. In addition to the professional fire brigade, the Public Fire Brigade of the City of Rijeka, voluntary fire fighters’ associations “Sušak-Rijeka” and “Drenova” also operate, with respectively about 30 fire fighters.

Historical curiosity

Municipal firefighting corps were established in Rijeka on 26 January 1863, which was the first professional fire brigade in Croatia with 32 members.
