The Ninepin Bowling Singles World Cup will be held from 9 to 12 February in the 6-lane bowling alley SRC Mlaka, and bowlers from 13 European countries will participate in the competition.

The World Cup competition will be held in two categories – the U23 singles world cup and the singles world cup for women and men, in which the best bowlers from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, North Macedonia, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia and Slovakia will take part.

“In terms of bowling, Croatia is one of the most developed countries, and Rijeka has positioned itself as a Croatian bowling centre, especially when it comes to women’s bowling. It is precisely for this reason that I am glad that this competition is organised in Rijeka. 64 competitors will present themselves at the tournament, 16 in each category, announced the president of the Federation, Tonči Mikac.

The competition is played as an elimination tournament, the pairs of the round of 16 are determined by lot, and the game is played on a knock-out basis until the final.

Mayor Marko Filipović also expressed his satisfaction that Rijeka will host one more sports competition, wishing the competitors a lot of sporting success. “The arrival of the best bowlers in our city is an opportunity for Rijeka to once again present itself as the centre of Croatian bowling. I am also glad that after last year, during which we held the title of European City of Sports, successful sports competitions continue to be organised in Rijeka, for example, last weekend Rijeka hosted the Davis Cup. I believe that this competition will take place in a pleasant sporting atmosphere, fair play and let the best win”, said Filipović.

The competition will start at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the entrance is free of charge.
