The Department of Culture of the City of Rijeka has launched a project for restoration of the stone relief on the Clock Tower, including the cleaning of the entire surface of the relief.
The cleaning works of the relief on the Clock Tower are carried out by the company Terracotta, that is authorised by the Ministry of Culture to carry out works on stone sculptures. The value of the works amounts to HRK 138,750.00 including VAT.
The Clock Tower in Rijeka is located in the area of the protected cultural and historical complex of the city of Rijeka, that has been entered into in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia and is one of the symbols of the city of Rijeka. An integral part of the Clock Tower is the monumental Baroque relief, work of the Rijeka sculptor and builder Antonio Michelazzi, which also includes relief busts of the emperors Leopold I and Charles VI and Latin inscriptions on the architrave.
The work stared on 8 November with the installation of a scaffolding, and the planned completion of the works is 15 January 2023.
