The Administrative Department of Health, Social Protection and Improvement of the Quality of Life, carries out the activities that include in particular:

  • cooperation with institutions, associations and other legal entities in terms of monitoring and analysing the availability and improvement of health care, ensuring financial and material conditions for the work of health care institutions founded by the City, and monitoring environmental quality indicators that influence the health of citizens
  • systematic monitoring of relevant indicators and, in this regard, proposing concrete measures for the protection and improvement of social welfare at City level through the implementation of the City’s Social Programme and the allocation of various forms of assistance to socially vulnerable citizens, ensuring financial and material conditions for the work of social welfare institutions founded by the City and providing emergency accommodation
  • coordination and implementation of pro-natalist policy measures
  • tasks related to the financing and supervision of the implementation of programmes in the field of health care and social welfare at local level
  • proposing the purpose and manner of using health and social care facilities and monitoring their use
  • monitoring the work and operation of the institutions in the field of health care and social welfare, founded by the City
  • protection and rescue tasks and tasks related to the management of shelters
  • monitoring the work and operation of the Public fire-fighting brigade of the City of Rijeka
  • tasks related to cooperation, development and improvement of the activities of the civil sector
  • other tasks within the scope of their activity determined by special laws, other regulations and decisions taken by the mayor and the City Council.
