The Centre for psychosocial support operating within the Health Centre of the Primorje Gorski Kotar County as well as projects and programmes of associations of the veterans of the Homeland War and the Second World War are financed within the psychosocial protection of war victims.

Centre for psychosocial support to victims of the Homeland War

The project promoter is the Health Centre of the Promorje – Gorski Kotar County, branch Rijeka, namely the Centre for psychosocial support to victims of the Homeland War.

Programme beneficiaries are Croatian military war invalids, demilitarised Croatian defenders, children, parents and wives of demilitarised and deceased Croatian defenders, military war invalids, returnees, civil war victims, children, civil war victims.

The programme implies the following interventions: information, consultation, rehabilitation, spousal treatments, family treatments, creative workshops for children, information on incentivising employment measures, as well as issue of prescribed forms and their control, information activities in the media, education of professionals included in the programme, mobile team interventions on-the-spot in case of emergencies and taking care of this population in cooperation with other institutions, contacts with associations and cooperation with defenders’ clubs.

Interventions take place at the Centre for psychosocial support and on-the-spot, assisted by a mobile team. Various professionals from the field of health, legal, social, special education and psychological activities take part in programme implementation. Family doctors, visiting nurses and social workers are included in the implementation of therapeutic procedures, while veterans’ clubs are led by professional staff and rehabilitated users

Support to the activities promoted by associations of the veterans of the Homeland War and the Second World War

The City of Rijeka supports projects and programmes promoted by associations of the veterans of the Homeland War and the Second World War that in various manners take care of their members: they provide them a possibility of gathering, driven by common interests, psychosocial support, they also organise various sports competitions and similar activities.
