The house was founded in 1993, within the Caritas of the Archdiocese. The House can accommodate 40 people and its capacities are mainly occupied. Since its foundation, the Centre, with its own programmes aimed at preparing and strengthening mothers and children, has had the role of resocialization and rehabilitation. Special attention is paid to the care of children who need assistance in overcoming the traumas they have experienced, assistance in teaching, organising free activities, etc.

The personnel of the Centre pays special attention to the prevention of transgenerational violence, in order to learn children that violence is not an acceptable behavioural pattern. Furthermore, one of the most important activities is the raising of public awareness about the existence of the domestic violence problem and its serious consequences.
