Part of costs relating to monthly energy consumption is settled in favour of certain categories of households (single up to HRK 150, two-member households up to HRK 200 kn, three-member households up to HRK 300, four-member households up to HRK 400, households with more members up to HRK 400 + HRK 50 for every additional member). The subsidised amount is fixed every year by a conclusion passed by the mayor of the City of Rijeka. The subsidised amounts for persons who live in emergency accommodation double these amounts.
Who can receive assistance?
A household that is a beneficiary of the guaranteed minimum compensation provided by the Social Welfare Centre Rijeka
An additional condition for realising this right is that the household does not use the flat in which it lives without a valid legal ground and that in the Republic of Croatia it is not a (co)owner of a real estate item, save for the one that serves for living (second flat/house, holiday house or business premises).
How to realise assistance?
In order to get this type of assistance, requests should be submitted at the counter hall of the City of Rijeka, at the address: Titov trg 3, counters no. 4 and 5, on working days from 8.30 to 15.30.
The reimbursement of energy costs is realised by reducing the bill of the company that has issued it (HEP distribution system operator).
The right to the reimbursement of these costs is valid for one year, from the date of its approval, thereafter citizens may again apply for this assistance.
During the recognition process or right realisation, relevant facts and circumstances may undergo changes (e.g. change in the number of household members, address), that must be timely communicated to the Health and Social Welfare Department by the applicant or the beneficiary.
Through e-Adviser, social programme of the City of Rijeka, citizens may get to know whether they can become beneficiaries of any type of assistance and how to submit a request.
