Although the city covers an area of just 44 sq. km and is the most densely populated city in Croatia, Rijeka has many small oases for children’s play as well as for relaxation and enjoyment of adults.

The City of Rijeka takes care of 294 playgrounds situated in various city quarters and takes care of 16 city parks, setting aside more than four million HRK for that purpose.

Employees of the City of Rijeka visit all playgrounds, on average, on a monthly basis, which is also done by the contractors with whom the City has entered into an agreement for the maintenance of utility equipment who are obliged to remove any possible deficiencies that they spot.
