For pupils attending from first to eighth grades of elementary schools and the Education Centre Rijeka, the City of Rijeka completely settles the costs of organised lunch in elementary schools, while for children included in extended and full-day programmes in elementary schools (pupils attending from first to fourth grades) also lunch and breakfast costs.

This right is valid from the date of its approval until the end of the current school year, therafter citizens may again apply if they further need this type of assistance.

Who can receive assistance?

Children attending elementary schools or the Education Centre Rijeka who have right to child allowance or attendance allowance provided by the Social Welfare Centre Rijeka, the child included in a household that is a beneficiary of the guaranteed minimum compensation provided by the Social Welfare Centre Rijeka or a household whose monthly average income over the last three months is lower than the income threshold set by the City of Rijeka for each number of household members (threshold for a household composed of three members HRK 4,875, a household composed of four members HRK 6,250, households with more members + HRK 875 for each additional member) or a single-parent family (a family composed of a child or children and only one parent who alone parents them) whose average monthly income over the last three months is below the income threshold set by the City of Rijeka for each number of household members (threshold for a household composed of two members is HRK 4,350, for a household composed of three members HRK 5,850, for a household composed four members HRK 7,500, for households with more members + HRK 1,050 for each additional member) or a child of a Croatian Homeland War military invalid or a child of a Croatian Homeland War civil invalid or a foster child.

How to realise assistance?

In order to get this type of assistance, requests should be submitted at the counter hall of the City of Rijeka, at the address: Titov trg 3, counters 4 and 5 on working days from 8:30 to 15:30 h.

During the procedure of recognising and realising the right facts and circumstances may undergo changes (for instance, the number of family members may change or the address) that must be timely communicated to the Health and Social Welfare Department by the applicant or the beneficiary.
