The City of Rijeka entirely or partially settles the costs of treatment and admission to the psychiatric hospital as long as this person needs it.

Assistance beneficiaries who realise regular monthly income, shall take part in costs settlement. The beneficiaries that live alone take part in costs settlement in the amount of 80% of their monthly income, beneficiaries who have family members with whom they live in a common household in the amount 40% of their monthly income, and beneficiaries who have family members with whom they live in a common household and are maintained exclusively by their income, in the amount of 20% of their monthly income. The amount of assistance is determined every year in a conclusion to be adopted by the mayor of the City of Rijeka.

Who can receive assistance?

Persons who in accordance with a medical report and the psychiatrist’s opinion need treatment, and furthermore achieve the right to disability allowance or attendance allowance payable by the Social Welfare Centre Rijeka, or members of households that achieve the right to guaranteed minimum compensation payable be the Social Welfare Centre Rijeka or households with average monthly income over the last three months that is below the income threshold determined by the City of Rijeka for single number of household members (threshold for a household composed of a single person HRK 2,875, threshold for a household composed of two members HRK 3,625, a household composed of three members HRK 4,875, a household composed of four members HRK 6,250, households with more members + HRK 875 for each additional member).

An additional condition for realising this right is that the person is not a (co)owner of a real estate item, save for the one that serves for living (second real property).

How to realise assistance?

In order to get this type of assistance, requests should be submitted at the counter hall of the City of Rijeka, at the address: Titov trg 3, counter no. 5, on working days from 8.30 to 15.30.

During the recognition process or right realisation, relevant facts and circumstances may undergo changes (e.g. change in the number of household members, address), that must be timely communicated to the Health and Social Welfare Department by the applicant or the beneficiary.

Through e-Adviser, social programme of the City of Rijeka, citizens may get to know whether they can become beneficiaries of any type of assistance and how to submit a request.
